OUMAYAB- The Ohio University Spanish Abroad Program

I’ve heard many stereotypes about Mexicans. All of them are absurd. One stereotype I have is that Mexicans hate anyone from the United States. I assume this about the general population of any foreign country I visit. However, I’ve been proven wrong on each occasion. You won’t be treated as an “Ugly American” unless you act like one.

I'm not completely sure what to expect. I'm planning on having to make several adjustments due to the cultural differences. Hopefully I'll; be able to improve my language skills during the trip. I'm, counting several interesting and exciting excursions during our day off from class. I also expect to attend several Mayan games (Mexican Baseball Association). Hopefully, our Tuesday meetings will help me understand what to expect in Mérida.
