I have many expectations for my trip to Mérida, México. The first and the most important to me is to learn the language. I hope to come back and be somewhat fluent in Spanish. I want to speak it better and I want to be able to understand when someone is speaking to me. I also, want to learn about the culture. I’m very excited to see what similarities and what differences we have. I want to meet new people and make new friends. Lastly, I want to come back with memories from one of the greatest things I’ve done in my life. I’m really excited about this trip and I hope It meets all of my expectations.
There are many stereotypes about México and Mexicans. In America Mexicans are thought to be dirty and look like they don’t shower. Also, people think they will take any jobs they can, so a lot of them do roofing and construction. So people automatically assume that’s what their jobs are. Another stereotype is that they all want to come to the U.S to take our jobs. Also, another stereotype, though not as bad as the others, is that they are caring and will welcome anyone into their home. I went to México one night on spring break while I was in South Padre, Texas and they were all so excited and happy that I was attempting to speak their language. So like any country México has their good and bad stereotypes.
