OUMAYAB- The Ohio University Spanish Abroad Program

When thinking about Mexico and Mexicans, I can think of both positive and negative stereotypes. Mexicans are stereotypically lazy, dirty, flirtatious people. Americans stereotype Mexico as being a dirty, impoverished third world country. However, some people stereotype Mexicans as being hard workers, and good providers for their families. Mexico can also be stereotyped by its amazing landscapes and tourist attractions.

I'm looking forward to embracing an entirely new lifestyle. I am excited to learn about another culture, and to getting to know the Mexican people and their language. Most of all, I am so excited to be doing something with the school the year before I graduate. I hope that this experience will help me decide what I'm going to be doing after graduation.
