OUMAYAB- The Ohio University Spanish Abroad Program

These are the stereotypes I have for Mexico: Mexicans are not as hardworking as Americans. They pay much more attention on their physical appereance. The women in Mexico are more subservient to the men. Mexicans love throwing parties and dancing. They are very family oriented.

I am very pleased to be accepted in the Study Abroad Program in Merida, Mexico. Even though Spanish is only my minor and not a major I have very high expectations regarding the knowledge for the Spanish language. I anticipate improvement in my written and especially in my conversational skills. Also I am very excited to live in a Mexican family and see their culture and traditions from close perspective.
