Mexico is a place I have been a few times so i’ve developed some stereotypes from that and from movies. I feel like safety for American tourists isn’t a concern there. When we went snorkeling there and they just took us out into the ocean where it wasn’t netted off or anything and let us get in. Our cab driver drove like and maniac, and when my brother got stung by a jelly fish they told us to put a lime on it, then it got infected. I feel like Mexican’s are only concerned with American’s money. The Mexican’s I have met here have all been friendly, but most of the men are entirely too forward and usually offend me during a conversation.

Going to Mexico for a study abroad program is something I had always wanted to do, but the fact that it is actually becoming a reality is really a blessing. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. When I am there, I hope my Spanish improves to the point to where I feel comfortable speaking it. Currently, I can barely speak a grammatically correct sentence. I also don’t feel like I can understand what I read in Spanish. In Mexico I want that to change. I am so eager to learn and absorb EVERYTHING possible. Another thing is, I am going into this situation not knowing anyone. I love meeting new people and I really would like to be able to make more friends. This is going to be a trip I will remember for my lifetime. This is my only chance I am going to have to study abroad and I want to experience it fully and embrace every opportunity that I can when Im there.
