My expectations for this trip are to have a great time, meet a lot of new people, and improve my spanish skills. I hope to bring back lots of memories and have a blast with some great friends and good people.
I am not a person that really believes in stereotypes. But if I had to think of stereotypes about Mexico and/or Mexicans, I would have to say that I heard Mexico is not the cleanest place, that Mexico has a lot of crime, that Mexicans can be shady people, and that I should not drink the tap water. I am not sure the extent of these stereotypes or how well they reflect reality, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Well my expectations for my Merida trip were to have a good time, meet lots of new people, and improve my spanish skills. I definitely have met some awesome people and made quite a few good friends. I've had an awesome time for sure. And I definitely feel that my spanish skills improved. That's 3 for 3 so I am pretty content with that.
As far as stereotypes go, I heard Mexico wasn't the cleanest place, and I still have to agree with that. There are some awesome places, but as with anywhere you go one will find the dirty parts. I've learned that you should not drink the tap water (like I had heard); also I said there would be some shady people, and of course there were, but you will find that anywhere. Overall, loved Merida and made a lot of memories I will never forget.
