Some stereotypes that I will have to fight against in Mexico is that some places may be dirty and unkempt. I also envision certain foods like tacos and am bombarded with the “lazy Mexican” stereotype, but after having the opportunity to visit a couple years ago, I know how completely false these are.

My expectations for Merida are to improve my speaking skills and learn more about the culture than would ever be possible through a textbook. To take in the sights, explore, live, learn and basically give in to every cultural facet are some of my main goals.
